Vidalia Onion Festival Named to Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20 Events

VIDALIA, GA– Southeast Tourism Society, an organization 
devoted to the promotion and development of tourism to and within the 
Southeastern United States, has selected the Vidalia Onion Festival as one 
of its Top 20 Events for April 2008 in the Southeastern United States.

This designation will provide exposure for the Onion Festival through over 
400 media outlets in the U.S. and Canada. The Top 20 Events are regularly 
featured in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, nationally syndicated radio 
show, “Travel Talk Radio,” and numerous other television and radio stations, 
newspapers, magazines, and Web sites.

In addition to the publicity received by being named a Top 20 Event, the 
Vidalia Onion Festival Committee was also awarded a certificate designating 
the Vidalia Onion Festival as one of the Top 20 Events in the Southeast.

The 2008 Vidalia Onion Festival is scheduled for April 24-27. For more

Kay-Lyn Tatum, Miss Vidalia Onion 2008, is the twenty-year old daughter of Ken and Kim Tatum and is the granddaughter of Kenneth and Kay Youngblood and Kennon and Lyndal Tatum, all of Reidsville. Kay-Lyn has one brother, Kameron. Kay-Lyn is a 2006 graduate of Pinewood Christian Academy. She graduated from Southeastern Technical College in 2007, with a degree in cosmetology. She is currently attending East Georgia College and will transfer to Georgia Southern University, where she will obtain a degree in early childhood education.. Kay-Lyn considers it an honor to represent the City of Vidalia and the Vidalia Onion.
