Each spring, Vidalia anticipates the harvest of Georgia’s Official State Vegetable, the internationally known Vidalia Sweet Onion. The occasion is celebrated with an array of fun-filled activities. The world famous Vidalia Onion Festival, as featured on The Food Network, is a five-day event that offers something for everyone. The week begins with the Miss Vidalia Onion Pageant. A children’s parade and opening ceremonies kick off the weekend’s activities, which include a street dance, Sweet Onion car, truck & motorcycle show, arts & crafts festival, Sweet Saturday Downtown Sidewalk Sale, and the Famous onion eating contest.

The excitement builds with the Vidalia Onion Festival Airshow with its aerobatics and  precision flying. Sports fans will enjoy the softball tournament, Onion Scramble Golf Tournament, Vidalia Onion Festival Rodeo, and the Onion Run. For those who wish to celebrate the onion in all of its culinary glory, there is a Vidalia Onion Chef Team Competition, Onion Cook-Off Tasting and Culinary Extravaganza. This is only a taste!
